Jonathan grew up in rural Michigan. He attended Yale University, where he earned a B.A. in Political Science. Jonathan then enlisted in the United States Army where he completed infantry training, airborne school, special forces selection and assessment, and the special forces qualification course, ultimately earning the coveted “green beret.”
During his time in the U.S. Army Special Forces, Jonathan served in three combat deployments, one in Afghanistan and two in the Middle East. He was recognized with a Bronze Star, a Joint Service Commendation Medal, and various other awards.
Since leaving the Army in 2016, Jonathan has worked in the private sector to advance tobacco harm reduction, with a focus on helping the Veteran community.
Jonathan believes his greatest achievement in life is his family. He married Allison Laffer Lindsey in 2015 and became a father in 2016 and again in 2018 to William and Violet, his son and daughter. All of his goals for his country and service are with them in mind. What kind of America will he leave behind for them and future generations? Let’s help Jonathan stand up for the people and be the strength we so desperately need in Michigan.
